The SCV Magic Soccer Club will not hold their 3rd Annual Picnic this Sunday, August 29, 2010 due to too many teams playing in tornaments this weekend. It is postponed to a date to be determined once the CSL schedule is published.

The 2010 SCV Magic Cup, the Club's first tournament was a success. We had about 90 teams participating and even though it was a very hot weekend everything went well.

We would like to thank the Tournament Director Robert Benavidez and the Asst. Tournament Director Mark Hovis, for their great effort in making this event happen, and thanks to their experience everything was smooth.

A big thank you also goes to all of our great parents that are part of our club, who have volunteered and covered many roles throughout the weekend contributing to the success of our tournament.

A particular thank you goes to Cindy Moore, our volunteer coordinator, and to Joni Shaffery, one of the Tournament main organizers.

Personally, I want to say thank you to our fantastic club President, Cliff Penick, who besides being a great friend, is also a person with a big heart and a very hard worker and very seldom is recognized for everything he does for the club and all the players, thank you Cliff.

One last thank you goes to all of our SCV Magic Soccer Club Coaches and their players, who did an outstanding job this weekend, and in particular I would like to congratulate the following Coaches and Teams:

During the 2009 Season SCV Magic competed in Coast Soccer League with 17 teams.

5 SCV Magic Teams are League Champions and 1 more team placed 2nd and will also be promoted to the next level in 2010.

6 SCV Magic Teams (35% of Club total) will be promoted to the next level for the 2010 fall season.

After coming from behind 3-1 against a very capable FC Barcelona team with 20 minutes to go on our last game of the season, the SCV Magic BU19 Team came back to win the game 5-3!  This was a great achievement as it displayed the character, self control, patience and all round great team work displayed all season from our undefeated campaign for 2009.  Well done boys!  You have made the Club Proud!
